The tradition of Christmas tea is now centuries old. Spices, tea and sometimes citrus fruits, compose it.
It was in England under the reign of Queen Victoria that the tradition of drinking flavored tea was born. Russia and Germany are associated with this tradition because it is common to drink mulled wine or spiced tea to protect oneself from the harshness of winter.
In the 1930s, the Temperance League served flavored tea at the end-of-year holiday season to serve its cause among the working classes: to keep thousands of people away from alcohol consumption.
It wasn't until 1980 that France discovered the first commercialized Christmas tea marketed by the Compagnie Coloniale.
Rooibos from South Africa
The sweet flavor of rooibos, combined with my selection of spices and plants, offers a comforting and fragrant herbal tea.
In France, the law prohibits the term "red tea" for rooibos, the term "tea" being reserved exclusively for Camelia chinensis.
It is also called "red bush," a herbaceous plant that thrives in the Mediterranean climate of the Cerderberg mountains.
Rich in antioxidants, the beverage obtained from the oxidized leaves appeals to Western consumers who are health-conscious or want to eliminate caffeine from their daily beverage. My caffeine-free infusion can be drunk without moderation all year round.
How to prepare your rooibos herbal tea?
