Buffalo milk cheeses are most commonly imported from Italy, a country where these stretched-curd cheeses come in many varieties: mozzarella, scamorza, ricotta, and more.

In France, several farms have chosen to complement their cattle herds with buffaloes.
Not far from Tarare, in Panissières, the GAEC Petit Tonnerre farm has embarked on the adventure of cheese production with these impressive Asian bovines, which weigh nearly 500 kg and stand 1.40 m at the withers.

And it’s a successful challenge for these young farmers! They transform their buffalo milk into firm tomme with blue veins, artisanal mozzarella, and fresh cheese.

We invite you to an exclusive tasting on Friday, April 18th to discover these exceptional cheeses. We will also have the special presence of a France 3 film crew. The television channel will be accompanying Laura from the GAEC in her daily activities. The film crew for this report agreed to follow her for a delivery to The Popote.
With your presence, we will be able to show viewers that in Tarare, we value local produce.
