A bit of history
The name "curry" is a generic term for a variety of spice blends found throughout much of Asia.
Whenever this blend is used, the dish is called curry.
Ranging from mild to very hot, curry is the most popular and widely used Asian spice.
In the West, "curry" is often confused with the curry leaf, "kalipoulé," a tree native to India imported by Indian recruits to the British army in Réunion in the 19th century.
The composition varies from country to country, and the color of the blend ranges from yellow to orange.
Most "masalas," or "spice blends," with the exception of those from Thailand and Malaysia, come from the Indian diaspora, which British settlers appropriated during the colonization of India in the 17th century.
British wives and "mensahibs," the wives of high-ranking officials in India, thus contributed to the transformation of many of the country's dishes.
Chili pepper is often present in spice blends typical of the Asian continent.
The Latin etymology of the word chili pepper is "pigmentum," meaning "coloring substance," and that of the word "pigment."
"Capsicum," or chili pepper, was introduced by Portuguese traders first to India and then by the Spanish to the Philippines.
From mild like bell peppers to as fearsome as the "American Pepper X", "capsaicin," the active component of chili peppers, affects all mammals but not birds.

Red curry is a spicy aromatic blend used in Thai cooking.
My curry contains Habanero pepper and Madagascar pink berries. These 2 hot spices are used in small quantities so as not to drown out the other savours in my blend.
It's low dosage leaves plenty of room for other flavors. The result is a blend that enhances dishes without setting the mouth on fire
It's texture enables it to thicken meat juices slightly.
Like all condiments containing hot pepper, prolonged cooking of the spice considerably increases its pungency.
Add red curry to a vinaigrette for a shrimp salad.
Season orange juice with the condiment to drizzle over baked poultry.
Surprise your guests by preparing red curry shortbread for the aperitif.
