A bit of history
In ancient times, macerates were cosmetic products. The Egyptians infused flowers in oil to perfume the skin and treat minor illnesses.
The Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians flavored olive oil, the only oily ingredient of the time, with all sorts of plants and spices. Its value was considerable because it served as currency. The white truffle is undoubtedly the most expensive tuberous mushroom in the world.
Numerous legends surround this exceptional mushroom, whose consumption is estimated to have been around more than 2,000 years before our era, with the Egyptian pharaohs.
The Roman philosopher Plutarch and his Greek counterpart Theophrastus assumed that the truffle was the work of natural forces: water, earth, and thunder. A lightning strike striking the ground gave birth to the mushroom.
In the Middle Ages, the devil would surround the tuber with his curses. Where a truffle grows, no grass grows, creating a bare circle of vegetation.
This was called a "Witches' Ring," these devilish creatures who gathered at sunset to dance around an oak tree. In the morning, a circle of dead grass indicated that by scratching the earth, the mushroom would appear. The clergy strictly forbade its consumption. This phenomenon, now elucidated, is due to the secretion of a herbicide produced by mycélium which dries out the soil.

A truffle-flavored oil: how to use it in cooking?
A few ideas from the Chef.
A macerate is an oil infused with plants, spices, or flowers. It is not an artificially flavored oil.
Truffles are undoubtedly the most expensive tuberous mushrooms in the world.
My truffle oil recipe uses sesame oil. I heat it at a low temperature for several days. Then, I add a natural black truffle aroma.
I add herbs that are well suited to the flavor of this aroma. Vegetable charcoal adds an original black note without altering the taste of the oil.
It's important to choose its use carefully, as this strong mushroom flavor is not suitable for all foods.
A truffle-flavored oil isn't the infusion of truffles into an oily substance, as that doesn't add any flavor. The introduction of natural black truffle flavoring perfumes my charcoal-tinted macerate.
Selim pepper, garlic, and bay leaves are infused with the flavoring in white sesame oil, an oil rich in fatty acids. These ingredients enhance the mushroom flavor.
Drizzle a little oil over cream cheese seasoned with salt and pepper.
Make a vinaigrette by adding good wine vinegar, a little Madeira, and truffle oil. Season a few salad leaves or endives with shavings of cured ham and walnuts.
Brush small slices of toasted country bread with truffle oil. Place a fried egg on the bread, top with thin onion rings, and then a slice of goat cheese. Brown slowly under the broiler before serving as an appetizer or hors d'oeuvre.
If you're a fan of truffle flavor, a drizzle of the oil is perfect for grilled meat, pan-fried potatoes, parsnips, or salsify.
